Over time the general public has built a stigma towards motorsports, thinking that motorsports is equivalent to loud noisy cars racing up and down our streets at all hours of the day and night. This perception is not the real meaning of motorsports.
Motorsports is about speed and racing but in the correct venue and with the adequate security and safety measures.
The Malta Motorsports Federation and its member clubs focus on promoting motorsport in this manner.
The first edition of the Audi Malta Motorsport Awards 2015, will appreciate and recognise nine racing drivers and five club officials along with two special awards during the much anticipated event among the local motorsport community.
The awards ceremony, which is being organised by Malta Motorsport Federation, with the collaboration of Audi, D Kalkara Regatta, England Insurance Agency Ltd, TVM2 and Chevron Creative Solutions will be held tomorrow on Friday at D Kalkara Regatta, Kalkara.
The nominees received from the majority of the Federation affiliated members range from local champions to club officials.
Emanuele Pirro, a World Motorsport icon, five-times Le Mans champion with Audi, and ex F1 Driver will be arriving on Friday as the guest of honour for the ceremony, along with Dr Marco Ferrari, who is the General Director of ACI Sport Italia.
Pirro will be at the Audi Showroom, Testaferrata Street Msida on from 10 to 11am to meet fans and signing of autographs.
